The oft-criticized deal which brought big-play wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Cowboys is paying off big in Big D.
Dallas is 2-1 since Cooper arrived in town and he has 14 catches for 169 yards and one touchdown as a Cowboy.
Adding Cooper to the mix has been a boon for quarterback Dak Prescott as he is completing nearly 70 percent of his passes while averaging more than 240 passing yards per game with the Pro Bowl wideout in the lineup. Before Cooper arrived, Prescott was completing just 62.1 percent of his passes and averaging 202.4 passing yards per game.
Running back Ezekiel Elliott called Cooper “the missing piece” and praised how he has opened up the run game by giving defenses someone else to focus on.
Prescott agreed with Elliott’s assessment while speaking with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“Definitely. I’d say so. We’ve talked about that for a couple weeks now,” Prescott said. “The way teams are playing us and the way they’re playing Amari and adjusting their coverages has given us favorable boxes. The offensive line is doing a great job of taking advantage of that. Zeke’s finding holes and making people miss.”
Cooper and the Cowboys will take on the Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving.
