When the Chiefs and Rams meet in Mexico City next Monday night, however it ends, it doesn’t take a psychic to see the game won’t be a defensive battle.

Vegas bookmakers have set the over/under for Kansas City’s south-of-the-border showdown with Los Angeles at 64.

Should that number hold up until kickoff, it would be the highest over/under since at least 1986, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

The previous two games in Mexico City have averaged 44 points.

According to the Worldwide Leader, the previous highest over/under was 62 for a November 2009 game between the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers. The under prevailed in that on as the Rams won 34-24.

While high, the mark does make sense because if both teams hit their average in points scored, the over will hit as well. The Chiefs average 35.3 points per game while the Rams average 33.5.

Those are the top two and three marks in the NFL as the Saints currently lead in scoring at 36.7 points per game.

The Rams are favored by a point or 1.5 depending on which odds source you favor.
