For the second straight year, the Toronto Raptors were thoroughly embarrassed by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers by being swept out of the playoffs four games to none.
Toronto, which had the best record in the Eastern Conference this year and entered the series as favorites, couldn’t even put a fight in Game 4 and were destroyed 128-93 on Monday night.
James didn’t even have to go nuts to lead the Cavs to the win and finished with a pedestrian – by his standards – 29 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds on 12 of 19 shooting.
“Everyone had counted Cleveland out,” said Toronto coach Dwane Casey, whose could be fired. “They struggled a little bit. They had the big trade and all that. Everyone thought they were vulnerable but as long as they have him, they have a chance and that’s what we were looking at. But 10 days ago we had all the confidence in the world.”
In Philadelphia, Sixers guard T.J. McConnell had a career-high 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists in only his second start of the season to help Philly take a 103-92 win over Boston.
The 76ers still face long odds to win the series as they head into Game 5 and trailing 3-1 in the Eastern Conference semifinals. No NBA team has ever won a series after trailing 3-0.
Tonight, the Warriors and Rockets – both up 3-1 – will look to eliminate the Pelicans and Jazz.
