Aaron Rodgers Has No Plans to Change His Style of Play to Prevent Injuries

Rodgers said, “Nope,” when asked if he’d avoid dangerous plays.

If the Green Bay Packers want to return to the playoffs this season after missing out last year, they are going to need quarterback Aaron Rodgers to remain on the field.

Rodgers – who missed significant time after breaking his collarbone for the second time in four seasons last year – knows this and plans to do everything he can to stay healthy for the Pack.

Everything – except avoiding the type of out-of-pocket plays that got him hurt in the first place.

When the Green Bay quarterback was asked whether he needs to alter his style of play and remain in the pocket more often to avoid taking hits, Rodgers quickly answered, “Nope.”

Despite the prospect of injury, it’s hard to argue with him as Rodgers has thrown 62 touchdowns while outside the pocket in 126 regular-season games, by far the highest number in the NFL.

It sounds like new Packers quarterbacks coach supports Rodgers sticking with what works. “Best in the league at playing in the pocket and extending plays outside the pocket; that won’t change,” said Frank Cignetti Jr. “Moving forward, we’re going to expect Aaron to play the way he always has.”
