As rumors about his NFL future continue to make headlines in the sports world, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is taking another step forward in his off-field TV career.

Fresh off a stint as the guest host of Jeopardy!, Rodgers will appear in an upcoming episode of The Conners on ABC and play himself hosting the popular game show. On the episode, Laurie Metcalf’s character Jackie Harris will appear as a Jeopardy! contestant.

The Conners, a spinoff of Roseanne, is set in a fictional Illinois town so don’t be surprised if there is a joke or two about the rivalry between the Packers and the Chicago Bears.

Rodgers, who previously played himself on The Office, is making the cameo appearance on the sitcom as the drama involving himself and the Packers continues to unfold and outsiders continue to weigh in on the situation.

The latest individual to offer an opinion on the situation in Green Bay and whether or not Rodgers is on his way out in Wisconsin is former Packers coach Mike Holmgren.

“They didn’t handle it very well, I don’t think,” Holmgren said of the relationship between Rodgers and the Packers during a radio appearance on the Carmen & Jurko show for ESPN Chicago. “It’s not good, that’s for sure. I can’t imagine a relationship between the coach or management or whoever is making the decisions and the starting quarterback like that getting to this point. I just can’t imagine it. I wouldn’t allow it. It wouldn’t happen. But now, it has happened.”

Until the situation is resolved, likely with a contract extension for Rodgers or a trade out of Green Bay for a king’s ransom of draft picks and players, expect the rumors to continue and for folks like Holmgren to keep offering their opinion on the matter.
