If LeBron James does the same thing tonight in Indianapolis that he did on Wednesday night in Cleveland, he could wind up in trouble with local authorities.
After James illegally swatted Pacers guard Victor Oladipo’s lay-up attempt with five seconds left to play in Game 5 and got away with it, goaltending has officially been banned in Indianapolis.
Following the last-second swat, James hit a three-pointer to win the game for the Cavaliers and Indianapolis mayor Joe Hogsett is doing what he can to make sure that doesn’t happen again with an executive order.
Oh — one more thing. By executive order, I am proud to outlaw goaltending in the City of Indianapolis… for every player, on every team.

“Indiana is the center of the basketball universe, and sometimes that means we have an obligation to stand up and defend the basic rules of the game. With this Executive Order, I hope Indianapolis residents can be confident that our city is ready to watch our Pacers win Game 6 on Friday,” Hogsett told Fox 59.
Cleveland has a 3-2 lead in the first-round series and will advance if they win Game 6 tonight.
