The problem facing many Android-powered timekeepers is that, despite having plenty of useful functions, they look like they belong on the wrist of actual androids.
For the Summit line by Montblanc, the company’s first digital timekeepers, that’s not an issue.
Joining their spotless reputation in watchmaking with the latest in wearable technology, the Montblanc Summit features a 1.39-inch AMOLED touch display with 400 x 400 resolution protected by a sapphire glass cover that’s backed by a PVD-coated stainless steel case that’s water resistant.
Since it’s digital, the face of the ticker can be configured into a number of classic Montblanc designs that should appeal to watch aficionados and, for those who are more concerned with function than form, the Summit has a Snapdragon Wear processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of extra storage as well as a heart rate monitor, a barometer and a microphone for voice controls.
Large and in charge, the Summit has a rechargeable battery with a 24-hour lifespan and comes preloaded with a number of useful apps and can be outfitted with a variety of different straps.
The Summit is “a testament to a vintage yet contemporary digital dimension” Montblanc says. “The design is inspired by the award-winning 1858 collection and the heritage of Minerva as one of Switzerland’s most revered timekeeping specialists.”
Priced at $890 for a basic model, the Summit can be upgraded with titanium for an extra $130.
