Donald Trump Doesn’t Take Vacations

Love him or hate him, the man loves to work

Know where Donald Trump would never win an election?

France.

The reason has nothing to do with his hands, his politics or the fact that he isn’t French. It’s because he refuses to take vacations or weekends off — a practice France has made illegal.

As a campaign spokesperson for the Republican presidential nominee put it while speaking to The Boston Globe: “Mr. Trump prefers to work.” Trump also talked about his aversion to taking time off in his 2005 book Trump: Think Like a Billionaire. He (well, someone) wrote: “Don’t take vacations. What’s the point? If you’re not enjoying your work, you’re in the wrong job.”

When the businessman-cum-populist does want to relax, he heads to one of the golf courses he owns to shoot 18 holes and recharge his batteries (and maybe send a tweet or six).

While Trump has said he doesn’t vacation because “if you want to succeed, you cannot relax,” people who’ve worked for him (and don’t support his candidacy) say there’s another reason.

“He would never take a nice, long vacation. He’s not that type,” said former Trump Tower construction manager Barbara Res. “He needs to be around people feeding his ego.”

As they say, there’s no rest for the wicked weary.
