You’re a wolf living in the Bialowieza Forest in Poland. It’s night. There’s snow on the ground. You’re hungry.
You see some bison.
Your pack barks, “Don’t do it, man! ? They’re 2,200 lbs. Have you lost your mind?”
“Not the adults,“ you say. “The calf.”
Ears perk up. Go on. You tell half the pack to run headlong at the bison. They’re half-asleep. The sight of wolves charging from the treeline will startle them. When they scatter, another group of us will come in and snag the little guy. Classic smash and grab, you say.
