Things should be simple.
That’s the common lament.
Fewer smartphones. Less Internet. Fewer tchotchkes of clutter crowding your rooms. Calm.
This is calm: The Landsby, a new boutique lodge nestled in the Danish town of Solvang, now taking reservations for April.
Inside, 41 rooms of simple and elegant Scandinavian decor.
The kind of rooms you take a nice deep breath in. Muted and earthy matte colors, pleasing adjacent the furniture’s just-so geometry.
You’ll want to book the Tower Suite: two floors with a balcony overlooking the town and the distant hills, plus a hot tub and a fireplace (other rooms here).
All rooms come with L’Occitane products and pillow-top mattresses. Fresh McConnell’s Ice Cream can be made available.
As for the general indulgence that is wine country, The Landsby offers curated wine tours to meet your proclivities. Just see the concierge.
The restaurant, Mad & Vin, will have a great patio and plate breakfast (gravlax), lunch and dinner (pork chops).
Incidentally, Mad is Danish for food.
They should of called it Mad Delicious.
Relax later.
