The Blue and the Gray

When it comes to style, New York has the power suit.

LA, the wet suit.

And rarely the twain shall meet.

Until now, when you shop at Confederacy — a pro-union LA boutique bridging the continental gap with a brand new line of bespoke suits tailored in New York, on sale right now.

Run by downtown stylist Ilaria Urbinati and actor Danny Masterson (“That ’70s Show”), Confederacy is an industrial hall of weathered brick peddling a carefully curated selection of modish brands, e.g., Band of Outsiders and Warby Parker.

Now, add their new line of bespoke suits to that stylish mix.

The suitmaking begins with an in-person consultation with Confederacy’s experts, who’ll help you choose your options — single vs. double-breasted, pocket style and lapel width, etc. — plus help you pick from a thick tome of swatches, all while you enjoy a coconut water from the in-store bar.

The swatches — all 100% lightweight Italian wool — come courtesy of Brooklyn’s Knot Standard, the tailors who’ll be cutting the suit according to your measurements and specifications.

And if bespoke’s not your bag, earlier this year Confederacy launched an exclusive line of suits by The Strokes’ Albert Hammond, Jr., now offered in burgundy and emerald.

Is this it? Yeah, this is it.
