Cambria Beach Lodge Is Your New Adventure Outpost

Where to stay when exploring the unspoiled coast

California’s central coast isn’t unknown territory.

There’sHearst Castle. Big Sur. It’s a veritable Valhalla for hikers and surfers. But if there’s a downside, it’s the dearth of quality bedposts upon which to hang your hat at night.

Which is why we’re pleased to introduce you to Cambria Beach Lodge, a 27-room boutique on Moonstone Beach appointed with help from Iron & Resin for a comfy, heritage feel.

This ‘60s-vintage beach lodge will not disappoint. The rooms have stainless steel finishes with sun-bleached floors and turquoise accents, big showers with Compagnie de Provence bath accessories, wool Faribault blankets and plush beds. But that’s about it.

You’re here to spend time in the out-of-doors, not in. You can use their Linus bikes to take the trail into town, and rooms come with an Adventure Kit complete with hand-lanterns and binoculars.

And you’re right on Moonstone Beach, where there’s a two-mile tidal pool trail and a sandy bottom break ideal for longboarding.

And with tourist season winding down, now is the time to go.
