We recently raved about the Sonos Roam, calling it a “tallboy-sized triangular speaker [that] is essentially all the things I liked about the [Sonos] Move, but now in a tiny, handheld package that’s easy enough to transport anywhere.”
I thought it was worth the $170 price tag. So I’d say it’s definitely worth getting this portable speaker at $111 from Best Buy, even if it is “Geek Squad Certified Refurbished” instead of new.
Since those words may scare you — refresher on “certified refurbished” here — let’s examine what that means. The speaker arrives with a 15-day free return policy. It’s “repaired and/or restored to like-new state” and also comes with a 90-day warranty.
Now, as for the like-new speaker itself? The sound features depth, bass and power that’s noticeably better than other portable models I’ve tried, set-up is a breeze and it comes with Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility. It’s also very durable and waterproof.
Want something from Sonos but don’t need the Roam? The audio brand offers a number of their speakers on sale if you go the certified refurbished route, including the Beam soundbar at $80 off.
