Now That’s a Seriously Badass Three-Man Submarine

Said every Bond villain ever

Some of you are thinking about Mars. (Or Canada. We get it.)

Us? We’re escaping reality in the opposite direction — below the ocean surface.

Our proverbial coyotes in this mission: the Dutch company Ortega Submersibles, who just launched the sleek Mk 1C, a personal three-seat sub.

The Mk 1C features two high-power electric motors, a HUD navigation system and a trimming tank for buoyancy. Along with the obvious: a state-of-the-art on-board breathing apparatus.

The 1C can reach depths up to 310 feet and traverse 92 miles. The sub skims the surface at 9 knots and hits 11 knots in deeper water.

With an estimated price tag of $250,000-$500,000, it’s a surprisingly affordable option for quick escapes.
