If you’re Marian Hill — the artist behind the song that stars along with dancer Lil’ Buck in Apple’s first TV spot for AirPods — chances are you couldn’t be happier that Apple killed off the headphone jack.
If you’re like the rest of us, you’re probably not-so-happy about the reality of your options, which is why design firms like Podo Labs are here to offer alternative options for audio.
What they came up with is an innovative adapter named Jack that brings Bluetooth connectivity to any headphones you own, or anything with an audio jack for that matter. The clip-on Jack adapter works by pairing with a phone, tablet, computer, or smartwatch, which allows its owner to connect to headphones, earbuds or anything else with a 3.5mm auxiliary jack.
“Jack keeps your existing headphones relevant before you need to buy a new pair,” said Podo Labs president Eddie Lee. “Jack is straightforward and useful, it’s something we want ourselves and the timing couldn’t be better.”
It’s currently available for $25 for early backers on Kickstarter and, given that the campaign has raised almost half a million clams, we’d say Jacks have a good chance of shipping on time.
