February is a time for indulging in delicious sweets, and we’re not talking about buying your beloved chocolate on Valentine’s Day. While Girl Scout cookie season officially started this week, beginning on February 27, the organization will start selling boxes of their iconic cookies online. That’s an important date this year, because in addition to the 12 flavors that were available in 2022, the new cookie launching in 2023 will only be available via the internet.
It’s called the Raspberry Rally. The new Girl Scout cookie is raspberry flavored and dipped in a chocolate coating. It kind of has crispy vibes like the Thin Mint and reminds us a bit of the now-defunct Strawberries & Creme cookie, which was honestly one of the best ever. Anyway, the new fruity chocolate cookie joins old favorites like Caramel deLites (Samoas, the best of all the cookies), Peanut Butter Sandwiches (Do-si-dos) and Peanut Butter Patties (Tagalongs, aka the second best cookie).
Back in olden times when I was a Girl Scout, we had to trudge door-to-door asking people if they wanted to buy a box. Some people loved it, many were annoyed. Nowadays, you can see Girl Scouts set up in front of retail stores, but interested customers can also go online to the Cookie Finder, type in their zip code and find out where a local troop will be setting up shop nearby. If you’re feeling lazy, you can also text “COOKIES” to 59618 to buy them digitally, or wait until late February when the online shopping (and access to Raspberry Rally) opens.
Not only are Girl Scout cookies delicious, but the proceeds really do help these young ladies fund experiences for the year, like service projects, travel and camp. So try the new cookie or one of your old favorites and help out a local youth while you indulge.
