Friends in High Places

It’s hard to turn down a friend with benefits, though rarely do those benefits include things like “knows 500 cocktails by heart” or “can expertly poach a salmon blindfolded.”

So reap the culinary benefits of someone else’s friends at chef Chris Mitchell’s “Friends With Benefits” Cocktail Club and Dinner Series featuring NYC’s most notable chefs and mixologists, tickets on sale now.

After working for chefs like April Bloomfield at The Breslin and Meatball Shop’s Dan Holzman, Mitchell conceived the FWB events to bring together his collection of industry cronies for special one-off “all-star games” at LES joint Fatta Cuckoo.

The weekly Monday Cocktail Club officially launches Sept 10, with legendary NYC bartender Doug Quinn pouring libations developed specially for the evening. Subsequent weeks feature drink-slingers from esteemed watering holes like Monkey Bar and 1534. Each all-you-can-drink soiree features an early ($35) and late ($50) seating, and RSVPs are taken via email.

The Dinner Series launches Sept 12 with Chef de Cuisine of Michelin-starred wd~50 Jon Bignelli. The top-secret five-course tasting menu won’t be released until the event, but features an amuse bouche, soup, fish, meat, and dessert – each paired with a specially-crafted cocktail by wd~50 beverage wizard Kevin Denton.

Seatings are limited to 12 people, so best grab a ticket quick – before your friends do.
