David Beckham sits comfortably in the realm of world-famous athletes who have also managed to become style icons. With his days as a soccer player behind him, Beckham has been involved with getting MLS team Inter Miami CF up and running, among other pursuits. And by “pursuits,” in this case we mean “investments.” What do you do when you’re known for blending the contemporary with the classical? In Beckham’s case, you end up seeking companies that are doing much the same.

You might recognize the name of electric vehicle firm Lunaz for the work they do taking classic cars of the past and transforming them with cutting-edge electric technology. Last year, this involved unveiling an all-electric Rolls Royce Phantom V, for example.

Autoblog reports that Beckham recently purchased a 10% stake in the company. In a statement, he noted that Lunaz’s blend of classic style and modern technology won him over. “I was drawn to the company through their work restoring some of the most beautiful classic cars through upcycling and electrification,” he said.

This isn’t the only technologically sophisticated company Beckham is involved with. He’s also one of the owners of Guild Esports, among a host of other investments. It’s an ambitious project for one of the globe’s most famous names.
