Remember when we were sad that Hawaii wasn’t allowing visitors back onto the islands until early September?
You can start adding more time to that delay. The new date is October 1, and visitors will need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test before arrival.
And yes, this is because of COVID-19. A spike in cases — including a record of 354 in one day on August 13 — prompted the tourism pushback. (It has dropped again, though the number is still above where the state was one month ago.)

There are still people flying into the state — returning residents, military, visitors and intended residents, according to Hawaii News Now. But anyone arriving still has to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
