By the time Tim Tebow finally gave up his dream of being an NFL quarterback and did what talent evaluators had been telling him to do for years, it was too late.
Tebow, who was attempting to make it with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a tight end, has been released.

Romans 8:28,” Tebow tweeted on Tuesday morning. “Thankful for the highs and even the lows, the opportunities, and the setbacks. I’ve never wanted to make decisions out of fear of failure and I’m grateful for the chance to have pursued a dream …”
In preseason action against Cleveland on Saturday night, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner failed to record a catch and played no snaps on special teams. He also looked inept as a blocker and gave little reason for first-year NFL coach Urban Meyer, who recruited Tebow to Florida and coached him in college, to keep him on the roster.
Tebow, who originally quit the NFL after spending the 2015 preseason with the Philadelphia Eagles and failed to make the team, is getting pretty good at crafting these sort of statements.
Drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round with the 25th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the 34-year-old went on to spend five injury-plagued years as a minor leaguer trying to make it to the majors with the New York Mets as a baseball player.
After batting 223 with 107 runs scored, 48 doubles, three triples, 18 home runs, 107 RBI and five stolen bases in 287 games in the minors as an outfielder, Tebow retired from baseball in February, prompting his NFL comeback bid.
“I want to thank the Mets, Mr. Alderson, the fans and all my teammates for the chance to be a part of such a great organization,” Tebow said in a statement released by the Mets at the time. “I loved every minute of the journey, but at this time I feel called in other directions. I never want to be partially in on anything. I always want to be 100 percent in on whatever I choose. Thank you again for everyone’s support of this awesome journey in baseball, I’ll always cherish my time as a Met.”
Now Tebow can cherish his time as a Jaguar, the same way he appreciates his time as a Bronco, Eagle, Jet and Patriot. Look for him to make an appearance on a Republican ticket in an election near you, or in Florida, sometime in the future.
