At just 5-foot-10 (at the most), Kyler Murray is one of the shortest NFL QB prospects in years — and he’s also one of the most intriguing.

A speedy player who is good enough at baseball that he was drafted by the Oakland A’s and signed to a (now voided) multi-million dollar deal, Murry is coming off one the best passing seasons in college football history.

While leading Oklahoma to a 12-2 record and an Orange Bowl berth, the Heisman Trophy winner set the FBS record for yards per passing attempt (11.6) and ran the Sooners’ fast-paced offense in a way few others could.

Case in point:

Simply put, Murray is dynamic and has most closely been compared to Russell Wilson, who just became the highest-paid player in the NFL.

“Murray is the best passer in this draft and the best running quarterback in this draft,” according to The Ringer. “Those skills aren’t mutually exclusive. He shouldn’t be classified as a running QB who happens to be decent at throwing, nor should he be characterized as a passer with above-average speed. He’s an unprecedented playmaker, and his two exceptional skills enhance—not detract from—each other.”

The Ringer’s Rodger Sherman details why Murray’s skill set is so valuable and why his height doesn’t matter in the modern NFL in the video below.

While there’s no way to know if Murray will be drafted No. 1 overall, it certainly looks like that is a distinct possibility.

Even if it doesn’t happen, it will be fascinating to see where Murray ends up and how he performs once he’s there.
