Although he’s not yet divulged if he’ll continue to protest and kneel during the National Anthem now that he’s back in the NFL, new Carolina Panther Eric Reid is sure he won’t be dropping his collusion grievance against the league.
Reid, who signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, is also sure of something else.
“I’ll keep speaking for my people,” Reid said while closing his introductory press conference after rejoining the NFL.
“I am still evaluating the scope of our country and will make that decision later,” Reid, 26, said in regard to protesting but added he can’t discuss his anthem plans because they are tied to his ongoing case against the league.
“There’s always opposition when you speak on topics like I’m speaking on, but I’m a black man in America. I grew up black in America,” Reid said. “You can’t tell me that what I’ve experienced and what I’ve seen is not true.”
Reid, a former All-Pro safety, played five seasons with San Francisco after being selected by the team in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft.

The Panthers didn’t play in Week 4 because they were on a bye, but head coach Ron Rivera said he expects Reid will play Sunday against the New York Giants and that it’s possible he may even start.
