Kanye West Has Reportedly Ended His 2020 Presidential Run
Well that was short-lived
Less than two weeks after announcing his 2020 bid for office on July 4, Kanye West has reportedly ended his run for president. According to a Tuesday report from New York magazine, the billionaire rapper told election strategist Steve Kramer he has abandoned the campaign.
“He’s out,” Kramer told New York after reps for the rapper reportedly went dark last week.
Asked for an explanation for West’s swift exit from his short-lived, late-entry run, Kramer responded: “I’ll let you know what I know once I get all our stuff canceled.”
Prior to West’s rumored exit from the race, the rapper was reportedly making headway, getting his name on ballots in various states and even reportedly polling at two percent in a recent presidential poll.
“We had overwhelming support to get him on the ballot,” Kramer said. Last week, according to Kramer, West’s team was hard at work “formalizing the FEC and other things that they’ve got to do when you have a lot of corporate lawyers involved.”
West has yet to confirm reports that he has suspended his campaign.
“I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye,” Kramer said. “Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level.”
