Last night (Jan. 4) Dave Grohl and the other surviving members of Nirvana reunited onstage for a special charity performance in Los Angeles.

In addition to Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, Grohl was joined by Beck, St. Vincent and his 13-year-old daughter Violet, who took over lead vocals in place of the late Kurt Cobain at the  2019 Art of Elysium Gala at the Hollywood Palladium.

The fundraiser, which helps to connect artists with children in need, marks the first time Grohl, Novoselic and Smear have performed together since October 2018, when they played a six-song encore during a Foo Fighters set at Cal Jam. As Rolling Stone reports, St. Vincent handled vocals on “Lithium” during the five-song set, while Beck sang “In Bloom,” and Violet Grohl sang “Heart-Shaped Box.”

The group closed their set with David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World,” which they famously covered during their MTV Unplugged performance. As for what brought the band back together, “We couldn’t resist the temptation,” Novoselic said.
