While Donald Trump may have tested negative for coronavirus, his Mar-a-Lago resort didn’t. The Palm Beach, Florida club is reportedly getting a deep clean after multiple cases of COVID-19 were confirmed, according to CNN.
Members were notified via email that most of the resort would be closed Monday for the cleaning, while the beach club would remain open. Dinner is expected to be served as usual Tuesday through Thursday.
Monday’s disinfecting comes in response to multiple confirmed coronavirus cases among recent club attendees, including one of nearly 900 attendees at a March 8 Trump Victory fundraiser brunch.
“We unfortunately write today to notify you that an attendee at the Trump Victory-sponsored event you attended at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday, March 8, has tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19),” Trump Victory, the merged efforts between Trump’s reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee, wrote in an email to attendees Friday. “We do not know if the individual had the virus by the time of the event, but out of an abundance of caution, wanted to call this to your attention,” the letter continued, encouraging recipients to contact medical providers if they develop symptoms.
The Mar-a-Lago cases come just days after the White House reported Trump tested negative for the coronavirus. Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh told CNN “there was no interaction” between Trump and the attendee who tested positive.
“Attendees had no direct interaction with the President at this event and the VP did not attend this event,” a Republican official said.
