Blue is seemingly a ubiquitous color. (As anyone who’s enjoyed John Coltrane‘s Blue Train album from Blue Note Records will surely agree.) But Dr. James Fox has revealed via CNN that much of what we believe we know about the color is wrong. Half of the planet may be, at a given time, walking around in blue jeans—really—but blue is shockingly rare in nature. The sky, the sea, even your significant other’s deep blue eyes?
