When Nintendo announced earlier this week that its new NX home console would hit shelves in March 2017, it was a big deal for gaming fans across the U.S. and throughout the world.
In Victoria, TX, Alpena, MI, and Lake Charles, LA, however? Not so much.
That’s because those cities, along with Meridian, MS, and Yuma, AZ, are just beginning to buy the circa-2006 Nintendo Wii, according to consumer information firm Retale.
Consider that Nintendo released the Wii’s successor, the Wii U, in 2012 … meaning those five cities are not one, but two consoles behind. And they’re not alone. Along with the Wii, some parts of the country are still shopping for Dubya-era items like TiVos, Motorola Razrs, Tamagotchis and High School Musical CDs.
The regions most behind the eightball: rural Texas, Upstate New York and Montana.
