After excerpts from journalist Michael Wolff’s new book, Fire and Fury: Insider the Trump White House, were released, President Trump sent a cease-and-desist demand to Wolff and his publisher, and he asked for an apology and a complete retraction. In response, Wolff said“Where do I send the box of chocolates? Not only is he helping me sell books, but he’s proving the point of the book.”

Wolff stands by his new White House tell-all about Trump, saying that he is “absolutely in every way comfortable with everything reported” in the book. The book includes explosive anecdotes from many of Trump’s staff members, including his former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon. The author told NBC News‘ Savannah Guthrie on Friday morning that “100 percent” of the people surrounding Trump question his intelligence and fitness for office. He also said that they all compare Trump to a child and that Trump’s senior officials say he’s a “moron, an idiot. Actually, there’s a competition to get to the bottom line here of who this man is. Let’s remember, this man does not read, does not listen. So he’s like a pinball just shooting off the sides.” Wolff called Trump’s attempt to stop the sale of the book “extraordinary,” and said that it just proves the point of his book.
