LeBron James and Elizabeth Banks will both serve as executive producers on Hoops, an upcoming NBC drama about a former WNBA star and coach, according to a story in Variety. Hoops is the latest in a string of production announcements from SpringHill Entertainment, the company co-founded by the best basketball player in the world.
Hoops will follow protagonist Stevie Decker as she becomes the first female head coach of a men’s college basketball team and deals with the fallout of sex scandal involving the school’s former coach, who was also her mentor.
James’ SpringHill Entertainment, Banks’ Brownstone Production, and Warner Bros. Television will come together to make the show. Jennifer Cecil, who has worked on shows like Notorious and One Tree Hill, will write and executive produce Hoops.
