Scooter Braun, the manager of many famous people like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande to Kim Kardashian and Carly Rae Jepsen, has been asked to make a lateral move to politics, reports Vanity Fair.
Fundraisers from California’s Democratic Party have approached Braun about challenging the two frontrunners for the state’s governorship, Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom and former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, in the 2018 race, writes Vanity Fair.
Braun and his reps declined to comment when contacted by Vanity Fair.
The manager has occasionally turned his attention towards politics. He invited Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Usher, Jessica Alba among other celebrities to his Los Angeles home for a dinner with Hillary Clinton in 2015. He is openly critical of the current administration on social media. He also reportedly talked Bieber out of performing at the Republican National Convention.
He wouldn’t be the first person to leave the entertainment industry for politics. Cynthia Nixon, star of Sex and the City as well as a longtime activist, is reportedly considering challenging New York Governor incumbent Andrew Cuomo for the 2018 Democratic ballot. Both Kid Rock and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have publicly spoken about a senatorial and presidential bid, respectively, writes Vanity Fair.
