Music producer Rick Rubin is a study in contrasts. His larger-than-life appearance gives way to a soft, almost shy voice. Likely one of the most important producers alive, he’s seemingly an expert in every major genre—hip-hop, alternative rock, heavy metal, and many others. His résumé includes Grammy wins for pop artists (Adele) and country legends (Johnny Cash) alike.
