Emilia Clarke, otherwise known as the dragon-riding queen Daenerys Targaryen, has been dominating in Game of Thrones for more than six years, but she is dominating the real world as well.
Clarke has also been in a couple of blockbuster hits, such as Terminator, Me Before You, and the upcoming Star Wars movie, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story.
So it is no surprise that ELLE’s September issue features Clarke on the front — though some fans may be disappointed she is dragon-less. Inside the issue, she wears Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Gucci, and opens up about the success of Game of Thrones and her thoughts on it ending soon.
Clarke revealed that she was nervous about the yet-to-be-shot finale. Though her friends are supportive and tell her that she and Daenerys are “one in the same now” and she needs to trust her instincts, Clarke says she constantly feels she needs to do more research.
“The higher everyone places the mantel, the bigger the fall. That sounds awful, but it’s true! I don’t want to disappoint anyone, basically,” she said to ELLE.
Clarke also faces the anti-feminism criticism head on in the issue, saying, that she “gets a lot of crap for having done nude scenes and sex scenes. That, in itself, is so anti-feminist. Women hating on other women is just the problem.” But she said that the well-done Daario scene (hint: “Take off your clothes.”) was the scene she had been waiting for, and it was kind of wonderful to have a scene “where I was like ‘There you go!’”
