For some Americans these days, their relationship status with the FBI could best be described as “it’s complicated.” But that could soon change if beleaguered director James Comey gets his wish.
According to the New York Post, Comey green-lit a television series that gave film crews direct access to the FBI’s New York offices. The docu-series is being produced by Law & Order‘s Dick Wolf and documentary film director Marc Levin. It premieres on April 27 at 10 p.m. on USA Network.
Per the Post, the show’s crews were onsite from September 2015 to September 2016, filming the agency’s reaction to events like the bombing in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood and the Paris terror attacks.
This, of course, comes on the heels of a tornado of negative press involving the agency, beginning when Comey reopened a case against then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton just weeks before the 2016 election. Comey then alienated many on the other side of the aisle when he recently revealed that the FBI had been investigating ties between Russia and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
