Barbra Streisand speaks out against Donald Trump on her new single, “Don’t Lie to Me.” In the track off her forthcoming album Walls, Streisand highlights Trump’s much-criticized relationship with facts and his undoing of democratic values.
“You can build towers of bronze and gold” is one of the more obvious hints of the subject of her song, who goes unnamed. “How do you win if we all lose? / You change the facts to justify / Your lips move but yours words get in the way,” Streisand sings.
Streisand was a vocal supporter of the Clinton campaign during the 2016 election. In an interview this year, Streisand said of Trump, “I call him the liar in chief, the misogynist in chief. He’s so crazed.”
In the final moments, Streisand sings out, “Can’t you see we’re crying? Where’s the new horizon?”
