Amazon has officially fired Jeffrey Tambor from his leading role on Transparent following allegations of sexual assault made public in November, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Transparent actress Trace Lysette and Tambor’s former assistant Van Barnes said that Tambor acted aggressively and inappropriately towards them. Thursday’s announcement of Tambor’s departure came at the conclusion of Amazon’s internal investigation into the allegations. Tambor has denied the allegations, apologizing for if his behavior was “misinterpreted,” but calling the accusations false. Tambor’s character, Maura Pfefferman, has been the center of Transparent’s first four seasons, and the show will continue on into its fifth season without Tambor. Show-runner Jill Soloway said in a statement Thursday, “We are taking definitive action to ensure our workplace respects the safety and dignity of every individual, and are taking steps to heal as a family.”
