In response to President Trump’s announcement of coming trade tariffs on aluminum and steel, MillerCoors has criticized the policy on Twitter. According to a story on Money, many beer companies fear that Trump’s proposed 10 percent tax on aluminum would hurt their bottomline, as companies like MillerCoors rely heavily on imported aluminum for cans. Trump’s move, which also involves a 25 percent tariff on steel, will be a controversial one in US-China relations, and it comes after a Commerce Department report claiming that importing metal hurts American industry. In its series of Tweets, MillerCoors argued that the US does not produce enough aluminum domestically to meet consumer demands.
