The International Space Station may face major changes ahead, as Trump’s latest budget request ends funding of the ISS by 2025, according to Wired. The budget would abandon the ISS in order to funnel funding into moon exploration. Private companies will now likely vie for use of the ISS, as the budget includes $150 million in transitionary spending to help welcome corporations to the ISS. Companies may deploy the ISS for anything from biomedical research to tourist space vacations. The government’s potential sale of the ISS would be a landmark event in the privatization of space. Trump’s plan still faces two major roadblocks in Congress and the international community, as a number of countries have been using the ISS for decades.
