How Notre Made a Boot For Coffee Lovers

Icy mocha chromexcel, anyone?

Coffee and leather.

Good recipe for a candle. Less so a pair of handsome leather boots.

But that’s exactly what you’ll find from Andersonville’s Notre Shop exclusive new “coffee” capsule collection with respected bootmaker Viberg.

Notre, you probably know. Opened last year. Set ablaze Chicago’s menswear scene by carrying labels you can’t find anywhere else in the city (like Viberg) and proved to the rest of these United States that, hey, Chicago’s stylish, too.

Viberg, on the other hand, you may not. They’re a third-generation Canadian company — a discerning gent might tell you a cult favorite — that has built a brand on craftsmanship and one single product: the Service Boot, an updated (but faithful) reproduction of the standard issue military boot of WWII.

For the “coffee pack” series, Notre and Viberg are taking Service Boot silhouette and offering it up in two leathers, aptly called “Coffee Chromepack” and “Icy Mocha Chomexcel.”

But the real upshot is what lies beneath: a rubber and coffee bean sole finished off with burlap constructed from actual coffee bags.

So, y’know, what the boot loses in practicality, it gains in singularity.

And we couldn’t think of a better present to yourself than that.
