Someone Fit a Tiny Home, Trailer and Off-Grid Power Supply Into a Van

When you put it like that, the price tag is more palatable

What do you get when you cross a tiny home, trailer, solar-power rig and Sprinter van? That’s not the setup for a joke, though some may snicker when they get a load of Outside Van’s new Power Station.

As Instagrammable as your stereotypical #vanlife Volkswagen, this behemoth is not. But what the Oregon-based van customizers have shown, once again, is that it’s what’s on (and what powers) the inside that counts.

For this build, Outside Van took a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 4×4 and customized it to suit the client’s purpose of “mountain biking outside Las Vegas,” according to Inhabitat.

First off, for power, there’s the 100W solar roof rack, two AGM batteries and a 2000W Magnum inverter. For dealing with desert heat and night chill, there’s diesel-based heating and rooftop air-conditioning. And yes, not only do two bikes have a home under the bed in the back, there’s a specialized e-bike charging hub.

More about the bed: it’s a queen (!) and located in the back just behind the full-size stainless steel shower (!!). Other luxe amenities include a refrigerator, Vitamix, microwave, Alpine sound system and eco-friendly bamboo countertops and cabinets.

While the company’s custom rat-race getaway vehicles start at $89K, Sprinter included, this particular build set the new owner back $320K.
