When Red Bull Gives an Aston Martin Wings, This Happens

Kid tested, F1 driver approved. And now you can own one.

Race enthusiast or not, chances are you have a pulse. And if you have a pulse, the $3M Aston Martin and Red Bull AM-RB 001 hypercar (details released last week) will quicken it. To your great misfortune — unless you are of the highest echelon of the Aston Martin illuminati — you’re not going to get the chance to helm this 1,000 horsepower bullet.

No need to fret, though. Aston Martin has kindly thrown us all a bone. Gearing up for the 2017 F1 season, the makers have announced they’ll produced two street-ready Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Editions — one a V8, and one a V12.

They won’t have their progenitor’s wings or hybrid turbocharged V6, but they will sport some fanciful F1-inspired elements. In store: a carbon fiber splitter, diffuser, grille and side strakes. And it has been given a slick aesthetic spruce-up to boot. Buyers can choose from a Marina Blue, Tungsten silver or matte blue finish, with complimentary brake calipers and infills across the board. In the interior, there’s a color-coordinated steering wheel, black seats with contrasting red stitching and Red Bull logos on the headrests.

The belles of the Bull are the door sill and inspection plaques, which can be signed be Red Bull Racing drivers Daniel Ricciardo or Max Verstappen. It’s an either/or situation. No chance of having it signed by both.

Which, aside from U.S. availability having yet to be announced, is our only complaint about these steeds.
