It might not be Godzilla v. King Kong, but this is one battle we would very much like to see revived.

That car above? The Bill Thomas Cheetah. It was built specifically to give the Shelby Cobra a run for its money.

Crossing the lot at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction this month, this make is one of 15 known to survive today. It’s also the only make to sport the Corvette 427ci L88 aluminum-head racing engine. She’s seen her fair share of historical track time: there were five years of SCCA/FIA racing, and later, the ‘68 Southern Pacific region SCCA A/SR champ.

After a museum-quality restoration, this number was the first Bill Thomas Cheetah to ever attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2016. The world would love to see a glorious return in 2017. Perhaps for a Shelby-’Vette showdown?

Yes, please.
