It’s hard to find a city more appropriate for Polo Ralph Lauren than Tokyo. There’s countless similarities drawing them together: the embrace of color, the lightning-quick pace, the respect for iconography. It feels only fitting, then, for the city to take (quite literally) center stage in PRL’s latest capsule, “Tokyo Stadium.”

In partnership with HIRO, LDH founder and original leader of EXILE, a Japanese boy band massive popular at home and abroad, the collection aims to revolutionize the classic ’90s look of “Polo Stadium” in a new, bold manor, while drawing inspiration from and paying homage to the pop culture scene of Japan that birthed EXILE and played a massive hand in the 1992 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The collection integrates HIRO’s daring style and affinity for a bright palette and street-inspired apparel with the classic heritage makes of Polo Ralph Lauren’s prep sensibilities. Shot throughout the city, the capsule pops against the emblematic scenes of Tokyo — a bright, patterned jacket agains the skyline, or a streetwear look in a scenic tea garden. In the friends and family disposition of both EXILE and PRL, the campaign features AKIRA, current leader of EXILE, as well as other members of the band.
