Donald Trump’s Lawyer Plays in a Republican Rock Band With Ex-Kansas Singer
Jay Sekulow, currently representing president in Russia probe, is band leader
Back in 2016, President Trump won Kansas (the state). Now, a lawyer representing him in the Department of Justice’s Russia probe, shares a band with a former member of Kansas (the band).
If you listen to conservative-skewing radio shows or you’ve been watching the political talk shows of late, 61-year-old Jay Sekulow will sound/look familiar. He’s been making the rounds on TV of late, defending the president’s record, remaining cryptic on whether or not the president is actually under investigation.
One thing he is clear about, though, is his musical abilities. According to Billboard, Sekulow is a multi-instrumentalist, rocking the drums and guitar, and playing in the aptly named Jay Sekulow Band—a septet that includes singer John Elefante, who fronted corporate rockers Kansas from 1981-85.
Listen to one of their tracks, “Undemocratic,” which seems to rag on former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
If you’re not the type to sit through the originals, you can always listen to the band jam on a Boston classic, “Long Time.” Listen below.
