Wellen, a casual, beach-inspired clothing brand based in L.A., was founded in 2007 and developed a cult-like following almost immediately.

One significant member of that following was online gear outlet Huckberry. They were such fans, in fact, that they went ahead purchased Wellen in 2018 after searching for the perfect brand to “own the warmer months of the year.”

And now they’ve released their very first collection under the Wellen moniker.

Huckberry has kept everything that made Wellen so successful: the attention to detail, the laid-back ethos, the beach-centric designs. But they’ve also instilled a renewed dedication to sustainability into every step of the production process.

Everything in the collection is made from organic, recycled or Bluesign-certified fabric at factories that upcycle just about everything used in the process, from fabric scraps all the way down to the water. The materials themselves veer toward sturdy, durable options like hemp (if you need a primer on why hemp kicks so much ass, try this), and it’s all made in small batches, meaning there will never be a huge surplus of clothing left sitting around with nowhere to go (and that you’re less likely to see someone wearing the same thing as you).

In essence, the new Wellen wants to sell you clothes that last — not stuff you’ll be discarding a year from now.
