This recent New York Times story isn’t going to ease your mind if you woke up and suddenly realized it’s almost Valentine’s Day.
Yes, due to the ongoing pandemic, supply chain challenges, labor shortages and poor growing conditions, among other reasons, fresh flowers are in short(er) supply than usual.
The good news? If you look at the major online florists, there appears to be enough supply for V-Day — or for any reason, as we’ve said before (flowers are almost always a good idea).
Last year when we spoke with florists, they gave us anywhere from Jan. 31 (oops) to a week out (ummm …) to get flower orders in for Valentine’s Day. Discounts are still out there, though; however, while many florists offer same-day delivery, we’d highly suggest you not wait, even if you’re planning on picking up something yourself locally. Another tip? Flowers don’t have to arrive on Feb. 14 — if anything, plan for earlier delivery in case something goes wrong.

1-800-Flowers
This company works with 5,000 florists nationwide and also offers up non-flowers gifting. The current Deal of the Day offers up to $25 on two dozen assorted roses, but there are plenty of other offers going on, particularly if you stray outside of roses.
The Bouqs Co.
This farm-direct, transparent-sourcing florist has 20% off for first-time users, some bigger discounts if you go the subscriptions route, plus a convenient “one-click” offer for V-Day roses.
Teleflora
The site’s Deal of the Day offers a set price — lower than other arrangements on the site — for a local florist to design their own bouquet for your loved one with just a bit of guidance from you. Also, you can save $15 if you choose “Flex Delivery,” which means the flowers will arrive at some point between 2/12-2/14.
Floracracy
This upscale Rockford, IL-based online florist is primarily female-run and has a strong commitment to working with domestic violence shelters. These are very thoughtful customized arrangements, so they’ll cost more, but you can get priority overnight shipping on arrangements over $120 … which you will definitely spend.
UrbanStems
Farm-sourced and promising “on-trend flowers and creating one-of-a-kind arrangements,” UrbanStems also has same-day delivery in DC and NYC. There are deals on individual bouquets (and non-flower gifts) ranging from 10-35% off — remember to use the individual code (VAL10, VAL35) depending on what you choose.

Farmgirl Flowers
OK, bad news: 2/15 is now the soonest delivery date for this upscale florist. But this is nice stuff, and if your loved one isn’t around on Monday … or you’re sending flowers “just because” … this might be your best option. Farmgirl started with a very minimalist idea: One daily arrangement, with no sizes, flower type or color to choose from. While no longer the case, these are premium bouquets with purposely limited (but beautiful) options.
