Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles helped his team make it to the playoffs on Sunday, but he didn’t score as much as he could have financially.
It turns out a late-game injury sidelined his chances of collecting an extra $1 million for the season.
The Birds punched their ticket to the post season with a 24-0 win over the Washington Redskins, but not before Foles was taken out of the game with what’s being described now as bruised ribs, according to Bleacher Report.
While he’s expected to play in the wild card round against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field next Sunday, his barely early exit from the final game of the season means that he only participated in 32% of the Eagles’ plays — not the 33% required of his bonus.
Eagles’ QB Nick Foles has a $1 million incentive if Philadelphia goes to the postseason AND he plays 33 percent of team’s plays. His bruised ribs that prevented him from finishing today’s game now mean he played 32 percent of Eagles’ plays – 1 percent short of $1 million. Ouch.

The final two drives of the game, instead led by third-stringer Nate Sudfeld, cost Foles a cool $1 million, as Adam Schefter explained on Twitter.
Foles took the Eagles to the Super Bowl last year after filling in for Carson Wentz, who went down with torn ACL, and returned to the backup role at the beginning of this year. He took over yet again for an injured Wentz this year and started five regular season games for the Eagles.
