Seatbelts, everyone, seatbelts

Truth be told, we’re over talking about the F-Pace. It’s all fine and dandy, but this is a Jaguar we’re talking about, right?

When I look at a Jag, I want to think two things: speed and sex. I don’t want to be thinking about boot space for camping or rear-seat safety for munchkins. I want be thinking about picking up a radar detector, stat.

Enter the new Jaguar XE SV Project 8, here to bring the English marque back to its estimable roots.

It’s a four-door sedan, sure, but it’s got supercar power. Under the hood, it’s packing a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 capable of 592 ponies and 516 lb-ft of torque. It’ll hit 60 in 3.3 seconds and top out at 200 mph given the chance to run free.

But it’s not only what’s inside that counts — everything about this car was designed for speed. The bumpers and hood are made from lightweight carbon fiber with an adjustable rear wing and front splitter. It’s also wider than its predecessor to accommodate the fatter tires that lend a drive better grip at high velocity. And the underbody is flat to increase aerodynamic capability, but with adjustable height suspension should conditions call for it.

All that power is no good if you can’t control it, though. Which is why the Project 8 is equipped with active dampers, carbon ceramic brakes and racing brake fluid. And in the looks department, this is the second car included in Jaguar’s Bespoke by SVO program. Should one desire, there are some 10,000 paint colors to choose from, along with a gaggle of vinyl accents and customizable hits to make ‘er your own.

Jaguar will only produce 300 of these beauties worldwide, and while the price hasn’t been announced quite yet, if you’re interested, we would recommend starting to squirrel away those pretty pennies now.
