Heaven Eleven

When it comes to the summer getaways, there are two prevailing schools of thought.

The first group are your off-the-gridders: sore-neck’d salarymen fleeing ‘push’ notifications and the heartless hum of the A/C.

And the second are your jetsetters, for whom comfort means fair-trade coffee, 600-thread-count Egyptian cotton and single-estate pillow chocolates.

Submitting a compromise between the two: Crested Butte, Colorado-based outdoor adventure series Eleven Weeks of Summer, now taking reservations.

On the itinerary: four days of private fly-fishing instruction from legendary angler Brian O’Keefe culminating in a helicopter excursion to the hallowed Roaring Fork.

Or a three-day off-roading clinic along the trails of the Elk Range, featuring daily picnics at once-in-a-lifetime scenic lookouts.

Each day ends at the Scarp Ridge Lodge, a remodeled Gold Rush-era saloon-and-brothel where an indoor saltwater pool, ‘log-fire lounge’ and five-star chefs (paging Kelly Liken) await.

No word yet on the pillow chocolates.

Nota bene: Eleven’s roster of properties also includes a French ski chalet and soon-to-open retreats in Iceland and the Bahamas, each offering a similar suite of adventure-based itineraries.
