Fortnite World Cup Partnerships Could Cost Five Times as Much as Super Bowl Ads

Organizers of the e-sports event are reportedly seeking up to $25 million per partnership.

The video game “Fortnite” isn’t just a big pain in the butt for parents, it’s also big business.

In a tweet, e-sports and sports business reporter Chris Pursell noted that the company behind the popular co-op sensation, Epic Games, is “asking up to $25 million for partnerships for Fortnite World Cup, obviously a new record for the industry.”

With prices like that, sponsorships of the upcoming video game event far exceed what networks ask for Super Bowl spots, which typically cost around $5 million for 30 seconds of airtime.

Though the $25 million partnership would include “something far deeper than just a spot” on television Pursell notes, the price still seems exorbitant.

There is no confirmed date or location for the Fornite tournament, but the grand prize for the winner has been set at $100,000.

At least 125 million people play the game worldwide and that number is only expected to increase as the game is incredibly popular among youths and pro athletes.
