Though it doesn’t seem like Americans can agree on anything these days, we will always have one thing in common: Beer. According to new data from Gallup, beer is the chosen alcoholic beverage of Americans.

Gallup surveyed adults and found that 42 percent of alcohol drinkers prefer beer to win and liquor. Meanwhile, 34 percent chose wine first, while 19 percent chose liquor. Back in 2005, wine spiked above beer in terms of popularity, and from 2011 to 2013, beer hit its lowest recorded popularity, reports Esquire, putting it neck-and-neck with wine.

But overall, beer has been the chosen beverage for Americans for over 20 years, despite the influx of popular items like natural wines and exotic mezcals. Beer has even gained traction among older, more affluent demographics in the last four years. Esquire writes that 42 percent of U.S. drinkers between the ages of 50 and 64 say they prefer beer.
